Bill Introduced by Rep. Harshbarger Would Ban Federal Vaccine Passports

Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger (R-TN-01) introduced a bill in the House of Representatives on Tuesday that would prohibit the federal use of a COVID-19 vaccine passport or any other similar required proof of vaccination.

“Vaccine passports are a restriction on individual liberties, period,” Harshbarger said of the attempts by some governments to require proof of vaccination in certain circumstances.

In addition to the ban of federal vaccine passports, the legislation would also implement a five-year ban on government vaccine mandates for vaccines first authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) through Emergency Use Authorization. Further, it outlaws discrimination due to vaccination status in employment, public accommodations, public transportation, or access to federal property

“I oppose these radical policies. That’s why I introduced the No Vaccine Passports for Americans Act to bar the already overreaching federal government from requiring vaccine passports. Our society needs to return to normal as soon as possible- our children have suffered through school closures, our businesses have suffered from strict lockdowns, and our economy is in desperate need of employees who will return to work. Banning vaccine passports will expedite the return to normal,” she said.

The idea of mandatory vaccination has spread across the country in many different settings. In Houston, a hospital suspended 200 employees who opted to not receive the coronavirus vaccine. Many colleges and universities are requiring students who wish to return to in-person learning in the fall to be fully vaccinated.

Many government officials have attempted to stop these mandates. In Arizona, Governor Doug Ducey issued an executive order to prohibit a form of vaccine passports on college campuses throughout the state. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has also enacted legislation to prevent what he argues is “overreach.”

Finally, someone with the intestinal fortitude to oppose massive government overreach. The current vaccines ARE NOT FDA approved. They HAVE NOT had long term testing. Are they safe? That is a question waiting to be answered. If you want to be vaccinated with a new non FDA approved, weak tested vaccine, by all means do it. But if you do not want to be vaccinated, one should not be forced to comply.
